...and the Theories. I am probably not alone of having theories. These may however be un-conventional, brilliant, revolutionary, or complete nonsense. Your call... :
Fate and Coincidents – two related phenomenons, which could have the same effect on an individual’s life, but that are also each others opposites. Fate assumes that an individual has no influence over his or her life. Whatever happens, happens for a reason. It was meant to be, and there is a path (more or less clear, but still a predetermined path) that takes all the logical steps in sequence from A to Z (A-B-C…-Z) in order to fulfill a person’s destiny. Coincidents will also take an individual from A to Z .However, it may not follow the logical steps, and it is also heavily dependent on other peoples’ paths. Coincidents are random occurrences, where the more or less informed decisions of a selected individual but also of all other people surrounding that individual shape his or her life.
An example: If Fate was to decide the way of the world, it was meant for Mr. X and Ms. Y to meet in Bar A on Day D, fall in love, and live happily ever after. They could not have changed this if they wanted to. If Coincidents was the deciding factor, Mr. X could have chosen to go to Bar B instead of Bar A, and Ms. Y could have received a phone call when she was on her way to Bar C, informing of road construction, which changed her mind to go to Bar A instead. By pure coincident, Mr X. and Ms. Y ended up in the same bar.
The way I figure, the way Coincidents work make a lot of sense.
'There are two kinds of people. Those who say 'Everything is going to be alright', and those who make sure everything will be alright.'
'There are two other kinds of people. Those who know more than they say, or those who say more than they know.'
'If you eat food that is long - e.g. spaghetti, cucumbers, etc. - you will be tall. If you eat food with a rounder shape - e.g. meatballs, apples, etc. - you will be a bit chubbier than those who eat long things. This theory is still subject to scientific evidence/research...'
'Every person is a product of the persons he/she have met and will meet. Everyone in contact with a person will leave an impression - favorable or not - that will contribute to shaping that person. The extent of the contribution is proportionate to the length, importance, and closeness to the "object". In other words: according to this theory you will pick up something from every person you interact with that will shape your personality, be it vocabulary, articulation, behavior, attitude, opinions, or what have you. The more interaction and the more important the relationship, the more influence will the person have on your person.'
'Sundays are a complete waste of time. This day is definitely redundant nowadays, stemming from more religious days. Sunday is a painful transition from the fun (?) weekend to the dull (?) week. Therefore, activities performed on a Sunday should be considered void. They don't count. If nothing else, Sunday should be renamed Idleday, Wasteday, or Noneday.'
'It is argued that prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. If this is true, how then were the first working girls/boys rewarded for their services? Bills and coins were probably not around. If they were, wouldn't then the producers of these be considered the first professionals...? Maybe the reward was a bag of food, gold, or clothes. Then wouldn't farming, gold mining, or tailoring be the first professions...? Or maybe the reward was another service, already in existence; a haircut, a transport, or some construction work. Same reasoning; this would make barbers, cab drivers, or carpenters the first professionals. Maybe the reward was to treat the girl/guy with a nice dinner, gifts, flowers, etc. Would this not then make a modern-day regular, innocent date an act of prostitution...?'
'The theory of "soulmates" is interesting. I firmly believe in the concept of soulmates. The issue of defining the concept will be omitted in this theory, as it is likely to vary depending on individuals. For the sake of this argument, we assume that "soulmate" signifies the idea of an ideal life partner. My theory is that there may be more than one soulmate for every person. Assume that a person meets one potential soulmate every day between the age of 15 and 85 - and a day should be the minimum time to establish a connection. He/she will then meet roughly 25000 candidates, give or take a few due to holidays and other practical reasons. Of the world's population of 6 billion, assume that 2 billion are of legal age and of the preferred kind. The ratio "people met / people out there" equals 0.0012775%. In other words, any given person will not meet 99.9987225% of the potential candidates. Statistically, chances are rather slim that a person meets his/her one soulmate out of the 0.0012775%. If the vast majority of the world's population believe in this concept, very little procreation would take place. Therefore, there is a fair chance that more than one person can portray your soulmate. Gives us hope, does it not...?'
'One of the best ways to figure out what you want is to filter out what it is you don't want'
'Art - a major source of debate and analysis. In my opinion, art should be something you view or experience without having to analyze its content. There may or may not be hidden meanings in every piece of art. Trying to break down the creation of an artist in order to discover the true intentions of the artist is a waste of time and energy. Art is something you should enjoy in your spare time. Spare time is time when you don't perform work duties. Work duties usually require some sort of thinking. Thinking shouldn't necessarily be limited to a the workplace. However, personally when reading a fiction novel I just want to know what happens; when watching a movie I just want to be able to follow the plot from start to end; when watching a painting I want to be able to tell what it is; when listening to music I just want to listen to the tunes and sometimes even the lyrics. May sound unsophisticated and ignorant, and for some maybe even disrespectful. My answer to that would be that regardless of how exciting and interested the life of an artist, and regardless of their political/religious/cultural/etc. opinions, it's just that - the characteristics of that very individual. They are the only ones who will know the true intentions of every aspect of their creations. All I want is to be able to disconnect the brain and enjoy the show/movie/song/sculpture/painting/photo. No analysis, save the engergy for more important tasks.
